Gas dryers cost less to operate per load, about half the cost of an electric dryer. However, when comparing value, if there is not already a gas line and gas vent in your laundry area factor in the cost of having them installed and also the higher initial cost of the dryer.
Washers:
Top-Load vs Front-Load
Reduce water usage by swapping a top-load washing machine for an Energy Star certified front load version. The energy used to wash a load using a front loader is roughly 30% less and the water usage is about half. About 76 litres per load instead of 150 litres.
